Myke Wright's Ex-Girlfriend Says Lizzo "Wasn't Very Nice" To Her (& Stole Her Boyfriend)
Highlights
- Lizzo's relationship with her boyfriend, Myke Wright, started in 2017 and they have been together since. Fans were happy to see her find someone special.
- Myke's ex-girlfriend claims that he left her for Lizzo and may have cheated on her. She felt alienated in Lizzo's presence and kept quiet about the situation until now.
- Lizzo has denied all allegations against her and said that she will not let them overshadow the good work she has done. However, she has lost a significant number of followers since the allegations came to light.
At first, Lizzo was recognized for her music. Then, she became a crusader for body positivity and self-love, even sharing her exercise routines and favorite (sometimes vegan) foods. But now, she's being criticized for allegedly abusing her staff. Amid the lawsuits against the singer also came some interesting claims from people who are close to the singer.
One of the people who have spoken up amid the harassment lawsuit was none other than Lizzo's man's ex-girlfriend, and Myke Wright's former partner had a lot to say about working with Lizzo. She also had a few noteworthy remarks to make about losing her man to the singer.
Lizzo And Myke Wright Have Been Together Since Around 2017
Though Lizzo has done an excellent job of keeping her beau out of the spotlight, it's said that the two began dating back in 2017. That might be surprising to fans who recall Lizzo publicly thirsting over Chris Evans, though apparently nothing came of the flirtation.
Given her sometimes raunchy behavior, fans might have been surprised when Lizzo started stepping out with her then-mystery man; her boyfriend often appeared in public with his face covered.
Either way, Lizzo and Myke have been together since sometime after they met while co-hosting MTV's Wonderland. The two were both hosts and stars of the show, and spent a lot of time together even when they weren't working, according to insider accounts.
And in recent years, Lizzo has gushed about her man, saying she wants to be with him for the rest of her life. This was all positive news for Lizzo's fans, who were thrilled that she finally found someone special.
Hopefully, things work out for Lizzo and Myke, but they definitely didn't work out with Myke and his ex, who states that Myke outright left her for Lizzo, and might have cheated first.
Myke Wright's Ex-Girlfriend Threw Shade At Lizzo
In a TikTok video, Brooklyn Elizabeth Brown talked about her ten-year relationship with Myke and how things ended.
She said she met Lizzo around 2016 or 2017 when Myke worked with Lizzo on Wonderland. Brooklyn said she met Lizzo, who was "standoff-ish" and apparently didn't like her. Brooklyn explained, after getting some negative comments that said Lizzo had no obligation to be nice to her, that the "vibe" was off, and that she felt alienated from her boyfriend while in Lizzo's presence.
Myke's ex claimed that as soon as the comedian got a "big break," he took off with Lizzo.
Further, Brooklyn said she knew there was 'something going on' with her then-boyfriend and the singer, which led to her leaving him. While she didn't explicitly say so, Brooklyn hinted that Myke cheated on her, saying that while it wasn't Lizzo's fault, she and Myke could have been 'kinder' when getting into a relationship.
But she kept quiet after their breakup because she assumed no one would believe her story. At the time, Lizzo was quite beloved, so Brooklyn might have made the right choice.
This was pre-Grammy win for Lizzo, but Brooklyn acknowledged that she kept Lizzo's name out of her mouth because she didn't think people would support her.
Given the nature of the lawsuit against Lizzo, however, Myke's ex seemed to feel like it was time to speak up about the rapper's character, and that she felt vindicated in hearing the criticism of Lizzo's behavior.
In a follow-up video, she stated, "my ego wanted this," agreeing that she knew people would flock to her video to hear gossip about Lizzo. Yet she also confessed that she felt better after finally sharing her story.
In the same video, Brown told her fans that body shaming in her comments would not stand—she also defended Lizzo's looks, calling the star beautiful, regardless of her behavior or "attitude."
Lizzo Denies All The Allegations Against Her...
To date, Lizzo has denied all of her backup dancers' allegations against her, posting on Instagram that "sensationalized stories" were criticizing her morals and character. She posted to Instagram suggesting that all the allegations of abuse are false, saying, in part, "I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be."
Lizzo also noted, "I'm hurt but I will not let the good work I've done in the world be overshadowed by this." The post might have come too late, as a couple of hundred thousand fans have unfollowed Lizzo since the allegations were made public.
This also isn't the first time Lizzo was sued; a former employee sued the singer after she was fired due to allegations that she stole Lizzo's food.
To date, it does not appear that Lizzo has addressed the allegations that her current boyfriend cheated on his girlfriend of ten years when they got together. It's also unclear whether Lizzo will be "canceled" after the lawsuit, or if the celebrities who have supported her since the beginning will continue to be in her corner.
