Sienna Miller & Tom Sturridge split because he wanted more babies & she didnt
On Wednesday, we learned that Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge are pretty much over. They never married, but they did get engaged years ago, when Sienna was pregnant with Marlowe. Sienna and Tom got pregnant less than a year into their relationship and the feeling I always got – for better or for worse – was that Sienna really did stick with Tom mostly because of Marlowe. Sienna has always seemed to me like a woman with a short attention span with men and relationships, and I’m guessing this four-year thing with Tom will be her longest relationship for the next decade.
Following The Sun and The Daily Mail’s claims of Tom and Sienna’s split, most sites carried “confirmations” from sources (not reps), but even People Magazine said the split was done. People Mag is hedging their bets though, saying that a reconciliation could be in the works. Yeah right. They also say that Sienna was the one who didn’t want to get married.
Sienna Miller and longtime boyfriend Tom Sturridge have called it quits after four years together, though it may not be a definitive end, a source tells PEOPLE.
“They are over, but don’t rule out a reunion,” says the source, who knows the couple’s circle. “Tom wanted to get married and have more children. Sienna didn’t. This year everything exploded with Tom in London and Sienna leading a separate life in the U.S. and [her appearance at] Cannes,” where the actress was busy in May with the high-profile role as a Cannes Film Festival jury member.
The Sea of Trees actress has been spotted not wearing her ring recently and attended this year’s festival in France alone. The couple, who began dating in 2011, share a 3-year-old daughter, Marlowe Ottoline. They were reportedly engaged in 2012, although neither of the Brits ever confirmed.
I think the whole “Sienna didn’t want to get married or have another baby” thing is probably legitimate. Sienna fell in love with Tom, they had a baby, Sienna spent a few years remaking her image and creating a narrative of “the wild child tamed by motherhood fulfills her early promise as an actress” and by the time the narrative had taken hold, Sienna was pretty much over Tom. She’s been like a caged animal, yearning to break free of the chains of domesticity. Someone bring her six tequila shots and a greased-up married man!
