Students Welcome New Dining Hall at UNR |
Along with the changes of being a new student, freshmen should expect to see new dorms and new dining hall.
The new dining hall, called Howler Hall, is basically a big service tent.
The Howler Hall is to replace the area that was lost when Argenta Hall exploded earlier this year.
It all had to come together in 60 days.
“They can eat at the overlook, they can eat here at howler village if they have a meal plan or they can trade their swipes out by trading their meal plan at any of their Nevada dining locations,” says Heidi Rich, Nevada Dining director.
They serve lunch and dinner at the Howler Village. So far 500 students per meal have been served at the hall. The village will only work until mid-November, that’s because that’s only the phase one to the university’s dining solution plan.
Then phase 2 will come along, and that will be called The Den. The Den will be a modular type structure building will replace the village. Phase 2 will work until Argenta Hall is rebuilt.
“A good temporary place after the cafe incident, I haven’t had any complaints about the food,” says student Ethan Fulkerson.
