The Tinder Swindler Simon Leviev has an agent and wants fame and cash
Netflix is making notorious scammers famous, with the Shonda Rimes series about the fake heiress, Anna Delvey/Sorokin and the documentary about the man known as Simon Leviev, The Tinder Swindler. In news that surprises no one, both of these con artists are trying to cash in on their fame. Yesterday we talked about how Sorokin has profited from her crimes. While most of the lump sum payment she received from Netflix for her story has gone toward paying her victims and legal fees, she has kept some of it. TMZ is reporting that Leviev has retained an agent and is now trying to sell his story and break into Hollywood. Of course he is. Here’s some of their report with more at the source:
Sources close to Simon tell TMZ … he’s already signed with a talent manager, and wants to write a book, star on a dating show and host a dating podcast. Yeah, no shocker … the guy’s got big plans.
Simon’s new Hollywood manager is Gina Rodriguez, and we’re told they’ve already discussed a bunch of plans to parlay his newfound Netflix fame into profit and an entertainment career.
We’re told Simon’s idea for a potential dating show includes women competing for his love … and he’s interested in sharing dating dos and don’ts on a potential podcast.
TMZ is the perfect outlet to break this news. While the Son of Sam law prohibits criminals from profiting for their crimes, my preliminary reading of the Wiki page reveals that it’s a blanket term for these type of laws which are specific to the US and only enforceable in certain states. Leviev has not been convicted in the US and it’s unclear if any of his victims were American women. I hope that if Leviev starts getting media deals that his victims sue him in civil court for damages. The same goes for Sorokin.
Two of the victims in the Tinder Swindler documentary, Cecilie Fjellhøy and Pernilla Sjoholm, were on The Drew Barrymore show remotely last week. You can see their segment here. Cecilie said that Simon needs help and that she feels sorry for him. I appreciated how she framed that and think she did it to get under his skin! She said “I really feel that he needs help, and I feel sorry for him. A very empty life he has.” She added that Simon has a whole team of people behind him helping him commit these crimes. When Drew insensitively asked Cecilie and Pernilla if they’re easy targets and what made them susceptible to Simon, Pernilla said that they’re not and that they’re just “loving and caring humans.” Cecile and Pernilla have now raised over £125,000 pounds on GoFundMe.
Simon Leviev has returned to Instagram. In his last post, image below, he wrote “The past few days was not easy for me. Thank you all for your love and support. I will keep fighting as I always did.” He needs to get sued into the ground!
